I always prioritise Tattersalls for my CCI* and ** horses’ Spring target.  Ian Stark’s courses are always educational, sending horses home more experienced than when they arrived, and the event is extremely well run with a positive and welcoming feel. It’s a great place...

It was so special to be back competing at Badminton.  This was my tenth Badminton but after an absence of three years, I’ve been looking forward to it since the 4th September - the day after Burghley!  Away Cruising was very settled all week and has been feeling great throughout his five month build up.

Belton was the first big event this season to run from start to finish and the team at Bede put on a superb show.  The ground in most places was fantastic over the weekend and dried up in the nick of time.  Being one of the biggest Spring one day events Belton has always hosted large and high callibre entries with good and challenging courses but over the ...

With over 20 events having been cancelled in full and many more abandoned part way through the weather has been a plague for event organisers this year. We’re hugely grateful for the events that have managed to run and to the organisers and their teams who have put in so much hard work and are left with a quagmire in the aftermath.

Last month I spent five days at Chris Bartle’s and learnt that the art of being snowed in is to do it in the right place! We managed to get up there in the nick of time and worked the horses with Chris each day in the indoor school and I came away feeling we had achieved a lot.

I feel very lucky to have been invited to ride in the Princes Countryside Fund Charity Race at Ascot today and it was a wonderful experience.  I was due to ride a highly rated horse called Solo Hunter but sadly he was withdrawn two days before the race through lameness.  I was very grateful to Trainer Patrick Chamings and his Owners for providing a last mi...

Since the premature loss of Wild Lone in 2014 there’s been a patience-requiring gap at the top of my string so this Burghley feels like it’s been a long time coming!  Away Cruising truly stepped up to the mark and it’s lovely to have a proper 4* horse again.  I&rs...
