Four star runner up
The horses have come out of the winter on superb form, despite the British weather causing havoc to the start of the eventing season, with endless & ongoing cancellations and abandonments.
Thoresby kicked off our season at the higher levels with multiple horses in the four-star and advanced classes. The weather did its best to put pay to play, but thanks to Stuart Buntine and his team’s perseverance and adaptability, the show went on - the show jumping was moved away from the main arena to better ground, and the cross country going turned out to be outstanding, so it was a joy to be able to give the horses a quicker run around a flowing track.
Red Kite and Cavalier Crystal were stars of the show, both doing smart tests and jumping double clears, to finish 2nd and 5th respectively in the four-star. Away Cruising had the perfect pre-Badminton preparation run, and Annaghmore Valoner produced a lovely test in the advanced to put her in a strong position, but as this was her first outing of the season she had a confidence building steady run. The courses were educational with some attacking combinations – a great opportunity for some forward riding, and the horses all answered the questions perfectly.
